The curtain for the Saab 9-3 Convertible Independence Day Edition 2011 is lifting. The photos are not confirmed yet, but they seem to be real.

The 2011 Independence Day Edition, the first since Saab gained independence a year ago, is presented in a new shade that we would call orange-red. The limited edition model differs from the previous Saab 9-3 series by new 18-inch rims, a new steering wheel design called “Super Sport” and by leather seats with orange-red inserts and orange-red stitching, color-coordinated with the bodywork.

The new model, which should anticipate the facelift for the other 9-3 versions, looks fresh and “saabig” and will continue to ensure the attractiveness of the current 9-3 until it is replaced.

Only 366 pieces of this model will be built. The number of pieces is calculated from the year of independence (= 1) plus the number of anniversaries (= 365). Swedish philosophy?

Saab unveils the new model at 23.02.2011 to Trollhattan's public in celebration of independence celebrations.

At the same time, the Independence model is a preview of the confirmed facelift of the 9-3 sedan and the new Griffin version, which will be unveiled in Geneva at the Motor Show.
