Through the cooperation of ZF Chassis Systems, which belongs to the German supplier ZF Friedrichshafen, with Saab, 50 will create new jobs in Trollhättan.
ZF will produce frame components and the newly designed 5 handlebar rear axle in a former panel factory in Kardanvägen, approximately 3 km from the Saab factory.
For Saab, the development of its own underbody and a new, sophisticated, 5 handlebar rear suspension is yet another step out of GM's past, as a supplier of sophisticated individual automobiles.
This cooperation will further strengthen Trollhättan's industrial and research base. Production will begin with the production of the Saab 9-3 successor, which is expected to be at the end of 2012.
Sheet metal parts from the ZF factory are processed in the Saab press shop and welded at the new ZF location before the components reach the assembly lines "just in time".
