We remember: Even in the 80 years, Saab was not free of crisis situations. The 2-door 900 sedan, accepted in the Scandinavian countries as a low-priced entry into the 900 world, did not really want to thrill the rest of the automobiles world.
Bob Sinclair, head of Saab USA, gave the impulse to build a cabriolet based on the sedan.
In the year 1983, the Saab 900 Cabriolet celebrated its world premiere in Frankfurt and 1986 rolled the first copies, producing Uusikaupunki / Finland to the customers. The annual production was, in complete underestimation of demand, 1986 limited to 400 pieces.
The rest of the Saab 900 Cabriolet success story is well-known and contributed significantly to bringing Saab through the 80 years.
One of these rare 900 cabriolets of the first 1986 edition came from the US, where most of them went back to Europe, where 2009 was restored and received a red box to improve performance.
For visual (?) Improvement, an Airflow Kit was mounted, which was not available for this year.
Purists will shake it, others find it optically successful. Matter of taste.
For Saab collectors, it's an option that 86er convertibles are megarar.
The 900 Cabriolet is in Hamburg and is currently available on Mobile.de.
