Hawtai Motor Group - the new Saab partner in China

Until yesterday we were not familiar with the Hawtai Motor Group. The company, which has been in existence since 2000, is the largest clean power diesel producer in Asia and works closely with Magna, Continental and Bosch. If Hyundai Modele was built in license in the first few years, now you also make your own creations, currently two sedans and an SUV.

Hawtai is investing € 150 million in Saab, 120% of Spyker is being acquired for € 29.9 million, the remaining € 30 million are a convertible bond with a term of 6 months and an interest rate of 7%, the conversion price per share is € 4,88. The authorities in China, the Swedish government and the EIB have yet to agree. Tenaci Capital will also convert € 42 million from the loan to Spyker into shares, thereby significantly reducing Spyker's interest burden.

The range of Hawtai Motor Group's own developments consists of two sedans and one SUV. The Hawtai B11, a luxurious sedan, which in terms of features nothing inferior to the European standard. So are air-conditioned rear seats, a parking aid with camera, DVD navigation, xenon with driving light assistants, leather and anything else you could wish for. The B11 is powered by an 1.8 liter turbo engine, an 2.4 liter petrol engine or a 2.0 liter diesel.

The Hawtai B35, the SUV of the manufacturer resembles in the Seitenline the Porsche Cayenne and is also again available with an 1.8 liter turbo engine, a 2.4 liter gasoline engine or a 2.0 liter diesel. All products can be combined with the in-house 6-gear automatic.

Hawatai is a young and ambitious manufacturer who wants to be one of the “big ones”. The main features of the diesel engines should come from the Italian manufacturer VM, but everyone has to decide for themselves whether a VM diesel derivative is desirable in a Saab.

Nevertheless, with its expertise in the diesel engine sector and its own gearbox manufacturing, Hawtai is definitely an interesting partner for Saab.
