Some time ago we were able to briefly admire a Saab 9-5 Hirsch Performance in Frankfurt. Hirsch, our favorite Swiss tuner, today published the following information about its Saab 9-5 program:

At last year's Auto Zurich, the public was able to get an impression of our vision for a Saab 9-5 for the first time Deer performance win. Intensive development work resulted in a performance package that meets the typical Swiss standards of perfection.

Thanks to the breathtaking performance of the 2,8T V6 in combination with the sophisticated aerodynamic package, the stainless steel sports exhaust and a self-confident appearance thanks to lowering and forged 20″ rims, the Saab 9-5 Hirsch Performance is the ultimate expression of unique, powerful exclusivity.
On the way to being ready for series production, all components had to undergo a complex, uncompromising test program in the acoustics laboratory, on the test stand, in the wind tunnel and on the road.
Whether in city traffic or at top speed on the highway - you can be sure that the car's behavior has been tested in all situations.

Powerful propulsion

Thanks to the Hirsch Performance performance treatment, the 2.8T V6 now develops ten percent more power than the standard engine with a maximum of 330 hp. 1500 Nm of torque is available from just 400 rpm, and from 2700 rpm and up to the speed limit the maximum of 430 Nm is continuously available. This increases the top speed to an electronically limited 260 km/h.

Of course, the principle of “responsible performance” was not lost sight of with this engine and care was taken to ensure that consumption and emissions values remained within limits. This means that the Euro 5 and CARB classifications are retained.

Stunning handling

In order to further increase the already excellent driving characteristics of the Saab 9-5, the Hirsch Performance version receives a spring set optimized for interaction with the active chassis (DriveSense), which lowers the car by 20 mm at the front and 10 mm at the rear.

The lowered center of gravity significantly improves the driving dynamics. For example, cornering stability increases and braking distances decrease. The extraordinarily light, 11 kg forged 20″ rims in the exclusive “Liquid Titanium” paint also contribute to the improved handling. In combination with the lowering, they give the 9-5 Hirsch Performance a strong presence on the road.

Sporting sound

In order to meet the requirements of a sporty touring sedan, our sound designers have extensively developed a stainless steel sports exhaust that produces a sporty, robust sound when accelerating and under full load, but on the other hand is characterized by pleasant sonorous restraint when gliding along in a relaxed manner. The fact that all pipes and silencers have been flow-optimized improves the response of the engine. To the outside, the two double exhaust trims in brushed stainless steel exude elegant sportiness.

Effective aerodynamics

The new aerodynamic package consists of a front spoiler with optimized air intake for improved cooling, side skirts, diffuser and a spoiler lip for the trunk. It gives the Saab 9-5 a sporty look without breaking with the original design of the vehicle.

The ongoing optimization in the wind tunnel brought impressive results: through the installation of the aerodynamic package in conjunction with the lowering, the drag coefficient was reduced by almost 5%. In addition, the lift on the front axle is reduced by 70% and on the rear axle by 40%. This means a significant improvement in driving stability at high speeds.

Saab factory warranty

Hirsch Performance guarantees that the increased performance does not result in any loss in terms of reliability and durability. When Hirsch Performance products are installed by an authorized Saab authorized workshop, the Saab factory warranty remains unrestricted and fully valid.
