SAAB Friction Tester at Frankfurt Airport
Saab comes from the aircraft industry and Saab has a long tradition of building fricition testers. A tradition that comes to an end now, since the recruitment of the Saab 9-5 I sports suit is missing. Manufacturer SARSYS has therefore switched to Volvo some time ago. But Saabs are still on the move around the globe every day in the service of flight safety. How a friction tester works, we have a year ago described.
Taking a photo of the Saab Friction Tester at the airport is almost impossible, because most of the time you are sitting in the jet and the Friciton Tester chases the runway. Through good relations with a certain airline with the crane, which obviously has a heart for Saab fans, we were allowed to take some pictures of the parked on the apron Saabs. On the way with the limousine (unfortunately no Saab, but from southern Germany) to the plane, there was a short photo stop with the cell phone camera (but now please hurry ..).
The pictures won no prize, time was short, the phone does not provide the best quality, but they are rare. Because who comes to a friction tester so close, except in the Saab center Frankfurt where regularly the Spezialsaabs were maintained.
In Berlin, a discarded friction tester has been on sale for a good year. From a very proud price to now 1.800,00 Euro reduced. For Saab fans who are looking for a new project, the ideal entry point and the opportunity to acquire a piece of Saab history.

Sounds like a great job. Drive Saab and “let the turbo create” on the tarmac 🙂
Yellow Saab cars look really good !!
Good morning,
also the airport in Dortmund currently has 2 Saab 9-5 station wagon as a friction tester. Before that, the airport used a Saab 9000 as a friction tester.
Therefore, we also had the opportunity to inspect these vehicles more often.
Just by the way ...
