65 years SAAB: And where is the Anniversary model?

1997 was 50. Anniversary with the Saab 9000 Anniversary the first anniversary model. One feature of today's model was the historic Saab aircraft logo embossed into the seat backrests. Then five years later, with a Saab 9-3, it was time again. Diemal with a turbo lettering in the leather. 2007, to the 60. Anniversary, came the last special model of Sweden for the time being.

The Saab 9-5 Anniversary. Like all predecessors, he was equipped with special leather, this time with embossed Saab lettering. Two Anniversary models, 1997 and 2007 are parked on the premises. An 9-3 Anniversary is in the neighboring town with friend Marco.

Exactly today it would be that time again. Would be - because today Saab celebrates anniversary and almost no one has noticed. At least the WDR has noted the date and brings a small one Message, On the 10. June 1947 presented the car maker from Trollhättan the pre-production model of the Saab 92 the press. A second vehicle was ready for test drives. The first production model of Sweden was born.

Today, 65 years later, it looks bleak for the small brand. The Anniversary model number four does not exist. Perhaps the 2017 tradition will continue and the cult brand will celebrate 70 years of automotive engineering. Maybe never.

No matter what. It's time for a thank you to Trollhättan. Thanks to Saab for 65 years of innovative automotive engineering. Thank you for many years turbo performance, driving pleasure and unforgettable moments. Thanks for security and individuality. The story can not be over yet. 65 years are too few. It has to go on. We want more!

Happy Birthday Saab ...

Now it's time to finally give the Chinese the nod. Although not my favorite but who is as stubborn as the Chinese, which is really something to Saab and above all, everything stays together and they are so synonymous to the recent Saab story and take care of the old Saabkunden that thank them for the next car purchase become.
With E-Auto Nerv NEVS only the name Saab is on it but has nothing to do with Saab anymore.

Much more important than a crash test of 1947, however, would finally be an announcement from the processing lawyers.

After the seemingly endless processing time, it just has to be clear whether Youngman-Lotus (in my opinion the best candidate with the smallest "quirks") or another applicant will be awarded the contract!

What are they waiting for? A completely risk-free takeover will certainly no longer be invented for Mr. Bergqvist. If you don't dare, you won't win - go!

      I agree,
Just read in the Financial Times Germany that Sweden keeps SAAB Parts AB for the next 7 years.
Since no bidder since last Friday, this mission is considered failed. Bo Lundgren, head of the authority, gave a meek at a press conference, so far none of the former Saab bidders is willing to pay 2,2 billion crowns for the division. Therefore, the debt authority has decided to take over the parts trade for the next few years. With fenders and windscreen wipers you could earn more money than now with a quick sale below value, so Lundgren.

What is this supposed to do?
Now that we all believed and hoped with the new addition of 400 Mio Euro from Youngman, for SAAB Automobile AB and SAAB Parts AB, the deal had to be perfect ???

The article is based on information from Friday. Update on the situation comes ...

For a long time, there was a nice video on the SAAB homepage from the “crash test” of the 92, in 1947. Five men push the car from the side and it flips down a slope. After it has landed on the roof (by chance? Helped?), The driver waves at the camera and drives away.

Do you always like to watch?

I didn't understand - how does the car drive away when it lands on the roof?

Turn around - sit in - drive off 🙂

Sorry - ended up on the wheels, my fault. The main thing is that it drives 🙂

@ Yves: I can only agree with that to a limited extent. If Saab continues, some of the spirit that defines the brand should be retained and not just the emblem & the name with smoothly sucked uniform design and technology or pseudo-innovations. That certain something ... Volvo, for example, has developed in the wrong direction in my opinion, the V60, for example, goes completely under with a design that has absolutely nothing to do with the classic Volvo virtues. Appears to me like any Korean box, on the hunt for pseudo-sporty lifestyle clientele ...

And that's probably the difficulty for Saab, if things continue: Gaining new customers and not alienating the old - a balancing act? In any case, I personally would like to hold the flag high and not have to “cheat” the next time I buy a vehicle.

MaceoP, I totally agree with you, but you always have to keep in mind that the engineers are still there and that some of them would go to the holy halls of Saab again. I do not think that we will experience such a blatant change, and if so please that we old Saabler (okey I have not even 30ig X on the speedometer) can handle it, a bit more mainstream would not be bad. The 9-5NG had already shown what that might look like, one of the first Saabs with a bubble butt

Basically, I did not have the design, more on the engines Turbo or E-Motion, I am confident that there will be a Hybried on the eXWD base, that would be something rather close to what would come to me because my scrape like a Horse, but make fun accordingly

Hopefully the buyer knows what he has in front of him ...

    Happy B-day Saab

Tom I hope you have not lost the fighting spirit, because you, that you must not forget for the Saab fans fall the flag and meet us every day with Stoltz when we enter our rather self-willed Swedes. I love my Saab and will drive it even if it has to be for several years if not decades, because for me it is clear who has the Saab fever it will not let go and I already have 40C °

I just hope that the admins of our brand make a Geburtagsgeschnek and finally announce who is the new owner. Whether electric motors or petrol does not matter a Saab must be. Of course, the mix would also be chic eXWD hammer

Thanks for your great contributions, I hope we can all read soon Saab was sold to….

    Regards

    Yves

    Join me.
Hopefully see "our" 97 9000 Anniversary
this week again - our big daughter and
    do not give it back.

A good start to the week for all Saab learners - probably
then with final knowledge. Either way.
