The parent company of Saab owner NEVS, National Modern Energy Holding Ltd., has opened a new battery manufacturing facility near Beijing. According to the owner of one of the most modern of the world, the new plant will produce batteries for buses and electric cars.

The lithium iron phosphate batteries based on Japanese technology are a modification of the lithium ion technology known to us from consumer electronics. The energy sources, also known as LFP, have a shorter charging time and a longer life expectancy and are therefore used in mobile applications. With 146Wh / kg, the batteries should be above what is available on the market.

The new plant, called “Beijing National Battery Technology”, manufactures the batteries for electric buses and is also to supply the energy sources for the new Saab products from Trollhättan. Currently 75 employees are employed, a number that should increase with increasing production. In addition, 30 engineers work in research and development.
