Saab news. Preproduction started.
Update: 15: 55
The first official “Preproduction Car” rolled off the production line in Trollhättan today. For the Saab brand, a new chapter begins under the direction of NEVS. It's a first step! More must follow. The built vehicle is a Saab 9-3 in a Griffin outfit, as we knew it before.
An update should have taken place only under the hood and the revised interior is not installed. Hmm. Oh well. Vehicle number 1 is built, no more, no less. Pictures are available at the friends of Saabsunited.

All in all, first positive! Press the thumb!!!
Actually a reason to celebrate, on the other hand already an oppressive impression to see the empty assembly hall with the one car .. Had in better SAAB times several times the opportunity to see the living work in action, that was already fascinating. The automobile life in the halls is missing. But no matter, look to the front !!!
Big hype cannot yet be made with the refreshed models (for this reason NEVS is currently holding back a little in marketing) - nevertheless there is reason to be happy and with the next presentation (PHOENIX model series) the advertising drum should also make a lot more sense do!
The “new” NEVS-SAAB remains an optical cream cake in 2013 too ... clear, elegant, sporty! With engines that fit into the current time, new fans should be found! SAAB moves ...
Despite all prophecies of doom ... I'm really excited that the new Saabs are being built (finally)!
For me this is a holiday today ... and tonight an extra beer for Saab's future!
May your tin dresses never rust!
After all, the Autobild has already published the news, otherwise there is silence in the forest of leaves. Let's hope that this changes and that the “journalists” then report correctly researched.
Likewise in Sweden. There is silence, too. Unfortunately, it does not make it easy for journalists. The press release can only be found on the NEVS page, has not been sent. There are no press photos, the information policy is once again puzzles. It can only get better.
Tom, just like all other manufacturers, when you sign up to their newsfeed you get the press releases. I got that
Which is not correct. NEVS had meanwhile changed the distribution portal. All early registrations were not taken over and not only we remained without press release. The topic of press relations.
Just great, that it worked with the first Saab ever.
Biggest efforts should now be put into sales. How should we continue to produce
if no customer knows where to order and the demand stays off?
Have 7 months before I can order a new one - just hope that there will be enough time ...
@ Tom
Yes that with patience we know
But the blog makes the wait more than bearable.
I rely entirely on you as regards the information and news from Sweden.
So when I look at the pictures I ask myself who built the cars and what level of vertical integration, from the metal press, paint shop or just assembly ...
Well, I find that without running machines a funny number, the only thing I like is the NEVS understood to have to go to the community
Press and paint is still there in the factory? The parts makes it synonymous parts, right?
Exactly and they started all that or they didn't ... just roll out a car, I'm skeptical
I don't think they had to start something because the parts are produced anyway. In other words, either the system was just running anyway or the parts are relatively young from production. I think so ...
The question is rather, and so it seems to read, what's under there ... Shouldn't there be any GM parts on it !?
Hi,
Does that mean that the suppliers to 100% are here?
Should still some missing.
Thanks Tom for the info what happened to the pre-series cars.
Now it can only go forward.
I am Gespant times how it will develop with the dealer network.
Because the local Opel dealer will hardly take up SAAB because it's not GM anymore.
Is there already new?
The question of the distribution network is still very far away. I think that will take a few weeks or months until there are concrete statements. It really only helps patience. We know that
What I would be interested in how close to the 9-3 that has gone off the line today is in the series. What about eg with the changed front because of pedestrian protection? I think here is still the old built at the moment. But most importantly, something is being built and there are signs of life.
Today's 9-3 is an “old” Griffin, like NEVS has on the street in Trollhättan. The bonnet with pedestrian protection does not yet have it, but it must be present in the new version. The new NEVS version, which we will hopefully see soon, is a facelift with changes in the interior and the exterior design should be close to the Griffin.
If something looks more closely behind the rims that looks a bit strange, right?
Disc brakes are not. Does the car have electric drive ?? !!
These are already normal disc brakes. There are protective covers on it, how stop a car comes from the tape. The customer does not normally see such a thing.
That's just for transport. Is a protective cap made of plastic. Do you look at almost every new car.
What strikes me about the other pictures: No more Ice Block Design SW, right? So again from before the my12?
Where it looks like this again: http://mb.cision.com/Public/3057/9468924/af3f29af5f8eb690_org.jpg
I don't think the new "badge" is so nice ...
Especially the grille apron honey a la deer and above normal series, well let's hope this is not a harbinger of Chinese influence
That's all that was already installed on the my12 / griffin model looks really good. The grill I have it too. Nice thing!
A nice day for all Saab fans! The first step is done. Now it's time to wait and see what happens next.
It is important, first of all, that the GM problems seem to be solved. Interesting is still the engine issue.
It's nice that even cars roll off the line.
How many pre-production cars will run on tape and how will they be used?
The vehicles usually remain the property of the manufacturer and are driven by employees or selected customers to test equipment. Before the start of the series, they return to the factory and are scrapped. How many vehicles are planned is currently unknown.
Where do you have to apply to become a selected customer?
The first 3 pictures on SU were really not happy! If you look at the picture gallery that is now on SU, I take back the last part of my comment just written! NEVS brings you a marketing expert that potential is there !!! Both in Trollhättan and in the rest of the world !!
Saabsunited has a preproduction to test the production line, not the facelifted 9-3 yet, so please don't panic ...
Just wonder why they switched from YS3 to YTN ... !?
NEVS is a new manufacturer, YS3 was Saab Automobile AB.
Could not someone open the hood?
The comments are once again typically German, all just questioners - that's why nothing works anymore in Germany, because everyone always only has concerns. NEVS is fast against progress in Germany.
Sure it's not the big breakthrough, but it's at least a START to continue working, or do you think NEVS builds the car just for fun?
I still have enough patience, our cars are very durable and I got the “backup” mentioned in the last few days in good time!
Keep Calm,
Greeting Gerd
I think it's great to see a newly built SAAB at all. One must not forget how much time and work it takes to put production back on the heels of our well-known history. I keep my fingers crossed!
In fact, not much new things can be identified externally, compared to the Griffin. Which does not bother me in the least! Keeps the timeliness of my 2008er. I still think it's very nice! Important I think the technology and the interior! I'm curious!! The pictures give the impression as if you are surprised that there is a new car :-))! I'm happy that anything is being built !!!!!
They just populated a 2011 9-3 with new logos and now want to tell the world that Saab is building cars again.
The then sold at VW because NEVS has no own dealer network and many former Saab agencies do not want to have a renewed adventure 😉
I hope and wish the best for SAAB / NEVS.
Euphoria does not come to mind with these pictures and messages.
As well as? Where are the cheering employees? Where are the employees anyway? Quite strange atmosphere for such a memorable moment that spills out of the sad pictures ...
So what is that? I don't get it ...
I wish NEVS all the best and good luck! I hope that this car will follow for many more years to come, but above all that they will find their buyers! TOI Toi Toi!
toi, toi, toi, only I lack faith. ....
Well, I'm curious and hope the best! 😎
