NEVS crisis

Update 11: 40

In Trollhättan, the “pengar crises” has worsened. The first suppliers use the services of the Kronofogden, which is supposed to collect the outstanding funds.

It's about the demand of 14 19 suppliers, the total 1.14  Have € 2,42 million in outstanding bills. NEVS press chief Mikael Östlund said in TV4 Nyheter "We believe we have a solution in the short term, in the long term we will have interesting discussions with some major car manufacturers."

Okay, frankly: I'll leave the events uncommented! And I admit it, I was wondering whether the topic and the ongoing NEVS crisis were even worth the lines. But the Swedish press is full of it today, so the topic will come to Germany without the blog. And SU has already put a list of creditors on the internet who are counting on the help of the Kronofogden. Taxes are due on June 12th, and failure to meet the obligations towards the Swedish state could quickly worsen the crisis.

What could give hope is the fact that the big creditors so far keep still. NEVS is in close contact with them, perhaps we can interpret this as a positive sign.

It looks like the bankruptcy trustees picked the unsuitable investors after all - this assumption was also voiced by many blog readers after the selection. Many would have preferred to see M&M as the new owner straight away.

The only thing left is the wish that this owner variant with M&M still comes into play - albeit unfortunately late.

      @ Detlef
      Yes exactly!

  • blank

Well, my 9.3 Cabrio MY2008 is alive and well, but the situation is probably also upsetting to him. After a 3.000 km holiday trip, the ESP lamp is now on….

  • blank

I'm curious what happens today ... tax payday!

    • blank

Will (probably) not much happen, they have announced that they want to pay punctually and to be able to.

      • blank

But where do you get the taxes if you do not even have 2 mille for suppliers. It all sounds like a bad joke. And the car world is laughing at Nevs / Saab just about to die.

        • blank

NEVS has taken out a loan of 38 million crowns ...

    • blank

Why does a manufacturer who makes losses in Sweden have to pay taxes?

      • blank

It is about excise duties and the social contributions due.

Tom, you are making it really exciting !!! When will we find out the story? If it turns out positive or if it turns out negative? 😉

    • blank

I will write about it one way or another, it just depends on the outcome what I “may” write. 😉

Yes, the worries are already there and now there is long and wide negotiations. They're Chinese ... I see it every week at work. You want to introduce a change in the company and the Chinese do (a) everything according to the process without the slightest deviation and (b) they always take forever. But so be it.

The talks are in my opinion too long. This does not mean that you should rush to conclude contracts, but it was just started off too late daamit. I do not start with such a venture, if I do not have a backup solution in the hindquarters.

It's a shame for me that Saab gets stuck in such a way. I don't love the brand so much, but because I have to buy a car and I could have delayed it long enough to convince my better half of the “Stormtrooper car”. But as it is, you talk and talk and talk and at some point you have a decision so that much later, at some point, you can say how you intend to continue. Wait that long? No, definitely not!

Is it just another Central European product.

Of course, I will continue to read the blog and possibly write.

    Best regards from Schü

How many cars has NEVS built with the 9-3 2014 now? Can 6 pieces be about 400 pieces a day, or rather 200? That would interest me burning for various reasons. Can it be more that the production was stopped due to lack of demand and the consequent cash problem? Are there a lot of unsold SAAB around?

    • blank

Production was paused due to liquidity problems, how many vehicles were built is not clear. Many of these vehicles will never come into customer hands, are used at NEVS for test and trial purposes and will later be scrapped. There should currently be around 100 to 150 pieces available for sale, which is not really a lot and roughly corresponds to what NEVS could sell in Sweden until after the summer break (if you look at the numbers for the last few months). If the Swedish customers feel like it at the moment ...

      • blank

So if NEVS has only now built 200-300 vehicles and suddenly has liquidity problems, I don't understand their calculation. You will have agreed a certain amount with the suppliers, which is certainly greater than 200-300, because otherwise you would pay horrendous prices for “individual pieces”. And when these parts have been delivered (I don't think that the suppliers delivered the parts individually), why at least these vehicles are not built, especially if the staff has to be paid anyway? The production stop cannot be prevented, as you will probably have to reduce the quantity and therefore it would be better to build and sell the vehicles. Sorry, but I don't understand a lot ...

        • blank

It might look like "suddenly", the story behind it is different. Depending on how the end will be, positive or not, it will come on the blog at some point.

          • blank

            Sudden production stop…. 🙁?
The first 30.04.2014-9 AERO private sale was staged with great fanfare on April 3, 20.05 and on May XNUMX. the production stop communicates….
Since stank but already in April something to heaven!
            Possible scenario:
With the current situation / insolvency (and payment of a ridiculous approx. € 2 million), the NEVS company in Sweden is “wound up”. Keep the PHOENIX platform (?), Finally (!) Dismantle it in order to do what you always wanted in China: build cars for China! The Chinese would have shown it to the Swedish insolvency administrators again ...
SAAB as a brand has suffered serious damage!
Join me in “look forward to what's coming” 🙂!
            Please tell us soon, Tom!

  • blank

So slow Can you even understand GM. Anyone familiar with Chinese is lost.

  • blank

Now just wait and see. Mahindra is supposed to be of serious interest. No names have yet been officially confirmed or denied, but rumors are growing. I would also be more sympathetic to the company than the Chinese investor. The Vice CEO should maintain good contacts with the Wallenbergs and there are business relationships with the Saab Aerospace Group. Fingers crossed…. For the Indians, according to the Swedish press, a diesel Saab (the diesel market is booming in India) would have a higher priority than an electric 9-3 ...

If there had been the 9-5 NG station wagon would be already in front of the door. But unfortunately that is history.

Over the past few years I've driven a number of Munich and Cologne riders in all possible variants and engines, but nobody really knocked me off my feet. The feeling that I had in my first SAAB was simply missing: "That's it!" I had that in the 9-5 NG, albeit in a weaker form. I hope that there is again from SAAB / NEVS.

Since NEVS is only progressing very slowly (is it progressing at all and if so, what happens?) My first generation 900s still have to hold up! They are looked after, repaired, restored and driven every day because with alternatives it looks pretty poor.

    @TOM:

I can understand your frustration with these messages but please continue with your suuuper blog. The information is just great!

There is a point that I do not understand:
For several years, everything revolves around this ominous Phoenix platform. In all these years, people continued to develop happily elsewhere.
Is not this oh so great platform now hopelessly outdated?
    Can that still become something?

    • blank

It can and is the basic equipment to be able to produce profitably in the future. For example, not every manufacturer, not the Fiat-Chrysler Group, has flexible platforms, which is a big problem. VW has, Volvo should have something similar to what all new models will be based.

  • blank

By the end of next year, I have time and hope that the situation has stabilized until then. Otherwise, I personally find Jaguar very attractive!

  • blank

    Amazing abrupt landing of NEVS.

How does this fit in with the foresight and the supposedly existing long breath?

“SAAB is what is at the door”, as Tom puts it very nicely. More will not come then ...

  • blank

That was it for NEVS. Whether it continues with the SAAB or not, I stick with it and take care of my SAABine

  • blank

Honestly, I also see something positive. Finally, we do not hear this stupid China Gelabere anymore. In Europe, the customers sit, in China, the brand knows no one, that could not go well.

@bay - I'd rather have a new machine transplanted into the 9-3 than change brands. SAAB - now even more 🙂

  • blank

I would be interested to hear what the insolvency administrators commissioned with bankruptcy have to say about this new situation - they are responsible for selecting the current dream dancers after the Spyker misery and had predicted good business development at the time (E-SAAB, Phoenix platform, etc.)

Bergqvist & Co. have probably disappeared now - poor Sweden!

The statement by Mikael Östlund “…. In the long term we have interesting discussions with some large car manufacturers” somehow reminds of the VM era. Slowly you got fed up !!

Hello people, s - I am not usually the writer but read regularly and of course I use 3 different “OUR” brands.
At the moment with small and bigger ailments which of course strike due to age - I had hoped all the more and already had the money in mind (aside) BUT: every day more and more it throws me from one devil to the other angel which is right and left on mine Shoulders sit. To be honest, I sucks ...
I can not keep myself in the mood for a long time, which looks so pointless and hopeless, too many disappointments. :-(
In 4 months at the latest I have to get something newer. Look, I've already driven a lot on a trial basis in the last few months - but like you guys, I'm not really open to the others and they can't get a hold of it either. The other Swedes are okay and good everywhere but don't knock me off my feet. What is NEVS actually doing with us?
I'll wait for the summer and I'm already thinking ……… ..
I'm really sorry but the mood is down.

It looks the same for me, something new will be ordered by September at the latest. Of course, my current Saab will not be sold, but I would have loved to add a second one. However, my patience also has its limits ...
Dear Tom, I am waiting for your redeeming words with good news to solve my dilemma! ;-(

  • blank

Please continue to report Tom! Even if the message is still so bitter!
The bad news about new SAABs in the last few days has at least moved me to bring a 40-year-old SAAB back to life - the project is ongoing, I'll report!

  • blank

So I'm also trying to get something positive out of this crisis: now it's finally over with the empty talk about EV-Saabs and the oh-so-great partners in China. Even more, could the unused opportunities (Magna, Mahindra) now be seized, for whatever mistakes. I hope the people at NEVS understand that they won't get another chance ...

  • blank

It's a shame if it comes to an end again. But SAAB lives on with us "Forever"

  • blank

I don't even like to read such news anymore…. that always makes me mad the "whole day" ... ;-(

    • blank

And I don't like to write articles like that anymore ... My day is just as bad as yours ...

      • blank

No, keep writing ... otherwise we don't know anything! Please no competition “Who has the worst day” now. We cannot change it, we can learn from it. I learned that doing business with the Chinese is usually bullshit. You're doing a great job anyway! Thanks again for all the blogs !!! And keep us up to date!

        • blank

Do not worry, the NEVS crisis is unpleasant, but not my crisis. Saab is what's in front of the door and what brings me fun to drive 🙂

          • blank

            Exactly Tom, that's it!
I have long felt that we will not get such cars anymore. But that does not spoil the fun, rather the opposite.

  • blank

Au Cheek ... this is not a crisis, this is a catastrophe. Apparently, NEVS is only concerned with selling or cannibalizing the platform as quickly as possible because Plan A has failed. The production standstill should have been prevented by all means. I was surprised that people hired how stupid and not grown appropriately. And then unpaid bills ... how do you want to raise your salaries for the next few months? Zock & Co have struck again ... I'm not feeling good ... But: I hope MAGNA can and will save my brand!

  • blank

Frankly, the sum is ridiculous and if that's enough to bring everything down ... well, then my 2003 convertible will probably stay. Luckily only 67.000 down.
Pity somehow I had hoped for a new one

    • blank

The published amount is indeed, for a project “Reanimation of SAAB”, ridiculous !!! A company worth millions or billions of dollars does not stumble upon such peanuts. There is something else behind this “problem”…. The day is spoiled 🙁, maybe a cleansing thunderstorm should come up in Trollhättan too!
Am happy with this news situation to say goodbye to my holidays! 🙂
I wish the event in Kiel a great course and a good atmosphere! Nevertheless….
