Bluestime Vol.3
TSV 1860 Munich, FC St Pauli, MSV Duisburg… .traditional clubs, firmly anchored locally, with a loyal following! None of these clubs will become German champions in the foreseeable future, which doesn't detract from the passion and enthusiasm.

The clubs have developed their own fan culture; usually one is infected with breast milk and sticks with it. No matter how glamorous 1. FC Bayern Munich sinks an Italian opponent - the true fan will never be susceptible to another club.
Football passion is one of the world's most serious trivialities, as serious as the enthusiasm for a car brand. Saab, so to speak, the dramas and passion for the 60er, St Pauli and the Duisburg are summarized in just four letters. What we have all experienced together for over 3 years with the brand and Saab blog is both dramatic and connecting. So far, the Saab fan culture was in order and stood on several solid pillars.
Saabsunited - blogger on the wrong track
So far, because one pillar is weakening dramatically and is on the wrong track. I'm talking about Saabsunited, where more and more is written about BMW and where authors sell their Saabs and switch to the brand from Munich. Of course - everything is in motion in our world, nothing lasts forever, and anyone who wants to change makes should do so. I have no problem with that. But what I have a problem with is the presence of the Bavarian brand on a blog, which is an important pillar of the community.
Michèl has ours today Position written and I would like to say a few more words about the Bavarian brand. I am not sure how to classify BMW in Sweden. A friend said it was the cheap leasing rates that made BMW interesting, but I know the Central European view of things. Anyone who has opted for a new Saab car in Germany in the past did so consciously. And he decided against a premium provider from his own country. For many reasons ! Maybe because he didn't like the image, because he didn't want to get lost in the crowd, or because he appreciated being socially compatible with an understatement brand.
BMW as an alternative to the Saab philosophy.
The situation is similar with our European neighbors. Saab is so popular in the Benelux because the brand does not come from Germany. In Switzerland as well. There are, especially for the older car buyers, historical reasons, but it is also the demarcation to the big neighbor. BMW builds interesting cars, and we already had an 320d and an 525d in the fleet, so I have no reservations about the brand. However, the moment a BMW is repeatedly celebrated on a Saab blog, it mutates into an imposition and counterpoint to everything Saab has ever made. Especially if you present a M4. A type of vehicle that can cause physical discomfort in conjunction with the clientele concerned.
Mind you, this is my southern German view of things. Maybe people in Sweden perceive the brand differently. What is acutely lacking at Saabsunited is the sensitivity towards the reader. The Saab community is in difficult times. According to Spyker, NEVS has proven to be an uncertain stock. What we need now is not division, but cohesion. The SU bloggers are primarily responsible for this. You have the "United“Written on the flags, claim to lead the global community, and have followed in the footsteps of blogger legend Swade. That is a responsibility and a promise to many fans. But maybe the blog founder's traces are too powerful for his successors ...
In difficult times and on rough seas, the good captain shows up, and I have the impression that you have difficulties dealing responsibly with news and the fans. Now, of all times, when fans need enthusiasm, loyalty to the brand and a secure footing, the focus seems to be on high traffic and sensation. One of the last articles speaks for it. It is believed that the factory could become a logistics center. The reports on this date from 2011 and 12. There is currently no basis for this.
Perhaps the repeated trip to the BMW Welt was an expression of frustration over the situation in Trollhättan, perhaps one felt at NEVS not appreciated accordingly. Maybe it's just the enthusiasm for a new car, which is now in the garage. I could understand these reasons. But, as I said, there is the responsibility that you have to face. SU's bloggers should return to their Saab roots. Drive BMW, yes. Allowed is what pleases and makes happy. But the blog please only pure Saab. Thank you.
That's why I like THIS blog so: This is where the roots are tackled and with a lot of passion! What SU does is of course quite ridiculous .. or even inconsistent: It is not even Volvo that is more written about. Everything is thrown upside down ... Another confirmation that we still need saabblog.net !!
Big thumbs up and keep it up!
Exactly, we can dispense with all those stupid modern things we ABS and ESP, or Head up displays; everything is broken!
Oh dear.
That's exactly what I meant by “romantic”! So I admit defeat.
So long ...
People, you can write so much good things about your new acquisitions from Audi (every Raudi drives an Audi) or BMW (Bayerischer Mist Wagen). There is one thing you won't take away from me: the impression I got of a brand new Audi A4 in the free workshop of a friend, as almost the entire front for changing a defective headlight! had to dismantle. In my 900 from 1991, the H4 bulb of the left headlight failed in March of this year for the dipped beam. I have it myself in 5 minutes! changed…. With approx. 20 minutes for the removal of the headlights incl. Actuator / wiper motors and rods per side on a 900 in the junkyard, I should be good as a non-mechanic ...
Great. On the way without ABS, airbag, xenon light. The great old 900 with its H4 Funzel, everything else was not a real SAAB anymore. I can not hear it anymore, these eternal stories yesterday. Why is not SAAB anymore? Thinking could help.
Certainly not, because there are fans of the old SAAB 900.
Just because there are enthusiastic 300SL Gullwing drivers, Mercedes has not gone bankrupt either.
What do you sometimes construct for connections?
SAAB is and remains passion = emotion. There are waves too. To be relaxed! - In the past people were enthusiastic about “their horse” and today they are enthusiastic about “their car” or “their moped”, some today also about “their horse”.
Of course there are more important things in life than a car. But you should be able to quiet a “small niche” for emotions. A little luxury should be. 🙂
I also drove “strangers” for a few years. Until a friend (die-hard BMW driver) said on a long drive to Dresden, your SAABs, they were still cars. Are there none left for you? I had another three months later. This year he (the friend) was allowed to drive SAAB to Dresden again. He was looking forward to it. -
I still remember how I always admired my sister's 96 "back then". She gave me her beetle for it. Two years later I had the money for my own 96. It was one of the last to be built.
A little bit of emotion has to be, even if you reminisce about it. The main thing is the view of the present is not lost.
Sorry, but unbelievable what kind of childlike reports from so-called “Saab fans” can be read. These “BMW / Audi” -style should indeed switch to BMW / Audi as soon as possible. It's funny that these commentators write the same thing on the BMW Blog Germany. True Saab freaks (like us) don't care how an Audi or BMW drives. These are means of transportation, passenger carriages, left-hand drivers, pushers, etc., nothing more, without any soul. Saab is cult, only intended for soul mates. Saab has history, Saab has achieved a status that is second to none. The people on the roadside turn around because special, because rare, because Saab. Saab enthusiasts stick together, don't start to complain just because Saab may no longer produce. We stick together. Live the Saab spirit in a very special way. Tom, I'm sorry for the incredible comments you've read. But such “child reports” leave us die-hard, motivated and cohesive Saab souls cold. Kind regards from Zurich.
Bravo!
It's great that we now have a list of criteria for what a “real” SAAB fan is. So we can now stay to ourselves and hide the real world out there.
Ok, then I'm probably a show-off, by the way makes really sense, so anonymous on a blog. I would be glad, there would be again SAABs as a new car in the 9.5 area, I would take one immediately. Just as I blindly ordered the 9.5 NG right after the show at the IAA in Frankfurt and then got it delivered to 2010 almost a year later in August. And the 4 new cars before (9.3 TID, 9.5 SC TID, 9.5 Limo Aero, 9.5 NG Aero), I have also ordered more or less blind, but that was probably also angeberhaft. Well.
A little more tolerance would be good for the world. And thinking about other cars should also be allowed. A used car as a “new acquisition” that is older than 5 years or over 100.000 km is simply not acceptable for me as a long-distance driver. My 9.5 NG was in the workshop for almost 40.000 months at 3 km; Tension rollers and slide rails defective and Saab was not able to send the right part.
Incidentally, I share the opinion of some readers about SU since Swade's departure, the level has fallen steadily. Since the Saabblog is a real alternative, thank you very much!
Everyone should drive what they want. BMW builds cars that are completely different from Saab in terms of design and technology. There is no recognizable elegance or comfort. I recently sat as a passenger in a current 5 Series and was happy when I got out again. Whether or not cars were being built in Troll - I wouldn't trade my 9-3 for any BMW in the world.
That is precisely the dilemma - unfortunately nothing has come across from SAAB for a long time.
From the GFUI Vui zvui (feeling enough)
Otherwise we would not meet here, rage, get upset and miserable.
Well, if this passion does not cause any harm.
We all suffer - each in his own way.
There is one thing that our current alternative does not manage - namely PASSION!
And she is still so great, modern and in.
Nothing comes across - no emotion.
Roared very well, lion! And it's not all evening yet - both for the lions and for Saab.
My opinion…
... on the subject of BMW: The leasing rates are not that cheap, unless you make a hefty down payment, for which you can buy at least two good, used, older SAABs :). In the summer I was allowed to try out a 428i for a weekend and had fun, but it didn't really grab me. Tasteful, quite noble, but somehow also a bit bland.
... on the subject of SAABS United: This is where I became aware of this blog, but what bothers me there (even worse than the BMW reporting) is how dissenting opinions are dealt with. Block commentators, insults ... a procedure à la “Defeatists [NEVS opponents] are shot” - haven't we had that before?
“My” advantage is that I have a service partner almost on my doorstep, so I don't have to worry about a SAAB alternative “today” (yet). In addition, in previous years I always went “strangers” and tried or had to try other brands because they were company cars. NGs are still on the market and from a spare parts perspective, I'm not worried at the moment.
Incidentally, a “SAAB blog” is a “SAAB blog” and not an advertising platform for other brands. But I still advocate the freedom to let us read along when others switch to another brand and what their decision-making criteria are. This is not branding, but “with passion”.
..tja, what is the option for a car after SAAB life. After the end of my 9.5 NG 2.8 Aero Hirsch I tried everything from Range Rover to Jaguar to Mercedes and BMW and ended up at Audi. It's been a S 2013 since August 7. Of course, an incredible car and the Saab also clearly superior in terms of performance. Not much more enjoyable than the V6 (over 40.000 km Ø 13 l full Ø 12,4 l over 80.000 km in the Saab. Actually, I would like to take the big diesel, the S was very affordable in leasing and by the way is pretty much on par with the Saab, Navi, phone, traffic sign recognition, etc. work perfectly, the chassis is also a dream, but only slightly better than that of the 35.000.The reliability is better than the Saab, the workshop costs can be because of a Full Leasing (€ 9.5 net per month for maintenance and wearing parts!) Be no matter. After almost 84 years Saab arrived at Audi? No, even the external appearance (just before Proll) and the habit of Audis I would prefer Saab again But there is not any more, in just over a year, the lease is over again, and then? Staying at Audi (A15?) To Jaguar (new XF?), a Lexus Hybrid SUV, so what?
Jaquar XE instead of XF :)?
... I already thought about it, the 3,0 with a compressor will later also be available as an all-wheel drive. There's still a little time left. Luckily. Incidentally, I would also welcome it if people who use a car for business and therefore (have to) exchange it every 36M are not dismissed as polluting the nest, but are also viewed as enthusiasts. There are now too many Saab romantics at the start. That doesn't get us anywhere.
Readers are now out and about here who drive everything from A… like Audi to V… like Volvo. They are welcome because they have Saab in their hearts (romantics) or as a second car or rusty hobby in the garage. The blog team is open and based on reality. Only as long as the key has not been turned in the factory gate in Trollhättan, we are a little reluctant to discuss alternatives. I hope this is understandable.
You can also drive a different brand for whatever reasons. But why do you have to exploit it that way? The least interested here is what a S7 consumed or how the brake wear on the M4 is.
Those who write something just looking for a confirmation what they have bought but for great cars.
The topic here is SAAB and not the new business acquisition of foreign brands.
What does a man named Ove actually say to Audi? , ”He (the Audi) has these wavy headlights. So that even in the dark nobody misses the fact that there is a real idiot in his car. " So change brands, but not to BMW, Reaullt, Citroën or even Hyundai. Because Ove doesn't think so. Not even to Volvo. Because Ove doesn't think much of that either.
I once took my liberty and deleted an obvious double posting. Hmm, sorry, I had to smile and I really hope that everyone who hasn't read Ove can classify these sentences correctly ...
Gigi, what would Ove do if he does not get a Saab anymore?
Sorry for double posting. Yes, I ask myself that too. Fortunately, my Saab will still run for some time. But after that, what does an ove or a man like me drive after? At the moment I would say a cool Fiat 500 in blu celeste (sky blue) to work. And for longer journeys just rent a car. Pays off better. Alfa Romeo would also be an option, but something new should come up. Whereby Ove would certainly not drive an Alfa. Then stop a Volvo anyway? With all the trimmings and a colored rear view camera showing the direction of travel, like my last rental car in Norway? At least backwards it drove better than my Saabrio!
The main authors at SU always seemed to me to be a bit immature and inexperienced - this assessment has now been fully confirmed.
True SAAB enthusiasts will no longer pay any attention to the SU blog and with the blog I am writing on, one has for some time been the better alternative at hand!
What is really missing is a closer connection with the current actors around SAAB in Trollhättan. Whereby the terribly bad flow of information towards the SAAB community can of course only be traced back to the behavior of the NEVS people. Hopefully the reins will be handed over to Mahindra or another suitable owner soon - the public relations work would then also surely reach an acceptable level.
Who decides what a true SAAB fan is and who does not?
It seems some authors on THIS blog have arrived at a worryingly low level. I find it underground and narrow-minded that people are portrayed as Nestbeschmutzer who look in the current situation for alternatives to SAAB. (have to)
I have read both articles, and see that both authors are longtime SAAB drivers and have bought an alternative due to a lack of offer from SAAB.
Do the SAAB blogs really need to throw dirt on each other? Is there nothing else to report? Exactly such reactions show, at which low point the mark is.
It is perfectly logical that more and more talk about alternatives. Leasing contracts expire and SAAB vehicles suffer accidents or retire from use for other reasons. There are also SAAB fans who want to have a car for everyday use and have no collector's passion to put in addition to the everyday vehicle in addition to old metal in the garage.
What this has to do with lack of maturity, does not open to me.
I think (hope) you mean commentators instead of authors. It is very clear that nobody should be portrayed as “polluting the nest” and if the emotions spill over then this is understandable in the current situation of the brand, even if not good. Alternatives, as I said, will become an issue at some point, but that has to be approached sensitively. And yes, there are other topics that are just as sensitive and where I find it difficult to write. Still, they'll be on the blog in the next few days.
Correct, Tom. I did not mean commentators authors.
And - with all the emotions: it's about cars, not about anything really vital. People who want to call themselves mature should actually still be able to tell the difference.
It should not be forgotten that NEVS is in the reconstruction phase and it is still completely unclear how SAAB will continue.
At this stage it is somehow inappropriate to do “surreptitious advertising” for other makes (and then also for vehicles from Quandt, of all things) - this is not adequate for a large SAAB blog.
Anyone (including a former SAAB driver) can of course buy a great BMW - but doing indirect advertising with it on a SAAB blog is not just immature but almost schizophrenic!
... and if there are so many great Mercedes-Benzes in the garage. ( Known reasons )
Once SAAB always SAAB - at least where it's GFUI.
(for southern Sweden: where the feeling is based)
Hmmm …. and I'm just wondering whether a saabige new acquisition (and the sale of the current packhorse) is still worthwhile ...!?!?
At SU I have had the impression of “swan song” several times lately (which was somehow subliminally or unconsciously noted as “contra” in my current decision-making process). 🙁
Regardless of that, I find the current behavior “next door” not quite iso either. - After all, you are a pure “brand blog” and not a general one.
Reports about "alternatives" to Saab interest me and are completely justified.
But if you want to become a “BMW blog” or “slowly” say goodbye to Saab, you should communicate that openly.
Saabige new acquisitions are always good 🙂 As long as you can still find a Saab that fits into life - nothing speaks against it. Or?
... you say that so easily ... 😉 😉
On the other hand, speaks for me, among other things, the chronic undersupply with competent "Saab workshops" here in the vicinity or the distance to the next "qualified" and the sometimes frustrated and annoyed with local independent workshops.
Well, what speaks for it, we all know here (just “enjoyed” again at WoEn on A7 / A23)… 😉
Anyway, one way or the other:
The decision will probably be made this week or next…. and then you either have a quick look at the dealer or just visit a workshop for “beautification”….
With mechanical problems, I see few problems with SAAB, as many mechanics are familiar with them. Less with electronics. I drive a 9-5 Aero SC from 2007, which has meanwhile 250 km. The vehicle doesn't look worn out at all, runs great and has always been serviced by the same mechanics to this day. I definitely trust the vehicle for another 000 km.
Unfortunately, the built-in navigation system broke the DVD reader some time ago. Due to the fact that there were no more map updates and no interface to the I-Pod is available, I have the GPS with a professional replaced by an Alpine INE-W925R.
Since then, the cruise control has failed and the fuel gauge is unusable and goes according to the weather.
The friendly has made an honest effort and tested the foot switch of the cruise control and the switch on the steering wheel and replaced.
In addition, one has replaced the float in the tank and the tank itself. I received the tank from the importer on special terms.
The electrician has reinstalled the old navigation system and tested the BUS system from his side.
The mistake remained the same. I could now both plague and process, but have neither time nor desire for it.
The best-known SAAB specie in our region said on demand that he did not know the problem and did not know if he could solve it. However, he has already estimated 1 tag overhead (at 159.- / h) to look at the problem. He pointed out to me that I had to fix the appointment in 4 weeks immediately, otherwise he would be gone.
You can imagine that I canceled and waived his services.
It remains now, as it is, the vehicle is driving and the Alpine is doing its job again.
If anyone really knows the 9-5 electronics, I'm grateful for tips.
I agree!
SAABige new acquisitions are always good! That's why I picked up my “new” SAAB 9-5 NG TiD Vector today in Bamberg at Auto Muckelbauer (in my opinion an absolutely qualified workshop!)! For me an absolute dream car! And now there is one more of them in Luxembourg ... 😉
Hey Wolli, your 9-5 is really nice, great car and Muckelbauer has made a small, colorful upgrade ;-). Have fun with the dream car!
Great Tom!
Once lion, always lion !!
Once Saab, always Saab !!
Yes tom; we have to stay “United”. According to me; no problem
This is important. I spoke to Till from SU today. I think we will stay “United” 🙂
No, but a small grazing light like.
A blog for a specific topic must remain a “topic block”. Otherwise it does not serve its target group. Anyone who runs a “SAAB Blog” must focus on SAAB. Otherwise he missed the topic. The “topic” of like-minded people is not hit.
Yes, but also dealing with the aspect of which cars I choose when I can no longer buy a SAAB is interesting for me. But I'm not talking about promoting any particular brand, whatever it is. The doctorate is out of place at this point. I'm just interested in being spoiled for choice on the “day after”: where are the SAAB individualists going ?! This is a side light.
The "day after" is a point that concerns us all. It will likely become a topic on the blog, sooner or later. Before we know how things will end or continue in Trollhättan, I don't want to write much about it.
I find the current events on SU very, very sad.
If you suddenly have no interest in SAAB, you should let the blog just quietly fall asleep and good.
But from an established SAAB blog, which is very widely known, now to make a blog of another brand, I find absolutely underground!
Surely everyone is free to choose which brand he pays homage to, but not in this way. Then better start a new blog!
And if you turn away in a crisis, that can also look deep: True fans are even in such a crisis to their brand.
If SAAB does not exist anymore as a manufacturer at some point, and that can actually happen in not so distant time, I will not sell my last SAABs in a fit of panic!
Surely it can happen that professionally as an everyday car then but then another brand for lack of young used SAABs will be around the corner, but the passion, the hobby around SAAB will not die by that!
On the contrary - the sweets Sonett & Co. will continue to be looked after!
So probably all real brand fans will think!
Therefore I have to accuse the makers of SU that they were only half-hearted about the matter ...
SAABige greetings with a view of things from northern Germany….
> Then you'd better start a new blog!
They have already founded that: bmwb.se
In my opinion, Saabsunited was good as long as Swade wrote there, after which it unfortunately became more and more uninteresting for me. Seriousness suffered badly and every insignificant novelty was sold as “breaking news” ... In my opinion, it is best to ignore simple things.
BMW doesn't work at all, this bad image, no no no ... (Bring me workshop)
Audi, expensive construction kit cars of the VW system, with the four onion rings (every Raudi NEN Audi)
Mercedes, mostly saturated sixties
what else is left? French people? Italian? Well, Alfa Romeo is still, but are still only Fiats in other sheet metal.
Volvo, if Saab no longer works? Or the Saab replicas from China, where we buy everything from China….
We want to take care of our Saabs and drive until they break apart.
Grüßle
Cooper One
Now anyone can write on his blog what he wants.
Only the name of the blog should also fit the content.
This is the opinion of someone who does not have anything to do with blogging and prefers to drive his car, and maybe soon will put something other than Saab in the hall.
Everyone who likes, can and wants as long as it is on their own playground.
