SAAB Turbo @ Knutstorp ring
Last weekend, the 52 year old Knutstorp ring, a 2.079 km long race track located in the south of Sweden. The weather on the very early Saturday morning was not too great, but the turnout at the gates was overwhelming, with 381 registered attendees.
Turbo to the max!
The SAAB Turbo Club of Sweden (STCS) is one of the country's largest and best-known SAAB enthusiast clubs. STCS has organized over the years. Traditionally the season is kicked off at Knutstorp Ring and this year was not an exception.
A queue already existed at 08: 00. 60 minutes later, find what they are looking for and get ready for what they are doing.
A comprehensive drivers meeting on the day and all drivers were informed about the track details, security precautions and other logistics. First out where the "family drivers", with mostly regular cars. About an hour later, roaring Turbo sounds really could be heard at the finish line in their (even more) tuned SAAB's.
Tired yet with high adrenaline levels and very satisfied the drivers returned home knowing that the next race track meetings have already been planned in Sviestad/Linköping (16 May), Kinnekulle Ring (6 June, part of this year's SAABfestival) and Gelleråsen/Karlskoga ( September 20th).
If this post has whet your appetite to come and join as a spectator you can just show up as everyone is welcome. A STCS membership is however required is you want to take the wheel yourself on one of the tracks, but the SEK 300 (approx € 30) annual fee shouldn't really spoil that party ...
Special thanks to Lena Stridh for her great pictures and ongoing spread of SAAB Enthusiasm!
