Saab Story

My Saab story began when I was 18 and stared into the shop windows at the Saab center in Bochum and found a 9000 2,3 S Turbo pretty cool - unfortunately too expensive. In 1991, as an apprentice, it didn't work out as I would have liked. I mostly drove all Opel models on the market gradually, from the Kadett to the Monza.

2003 it was time. After I have blown off at Mercedes and BMW, since I'm in their eyes, apparently not the right solvent buyer (this year I'm at Mercedes for delivery van purchase also abgesenkelt again, they should keep their cars!), I am to Saab Service Snippe after situation (now north horn) drove.

There was all the information AND coffee and cookies. Very nice staff, a competent boss and much more. When I asked why I'm not figured first, if I can afford a Saab, I got the answer that Saab drivers are not necessarily looking at their assets.

I bought a 9-3 Aero, what a grenade. Unfortunately, after 220 tkm it was too small. So he was exchanged for a new 9-5 TID chrome glasses, deer, which then did its job inconspicuously for 200000 km and to my complete satisfaction. He was exchanged for a Volvo XC 2, "gehikot", two years ago due to a lack of new tests - also very, very cool.

Incidentally, I then restored to shut down a Saab 96, which I sold because of our cultivation and the lack of time by two toddlers. Incidentally, I got a nearly completely restored Saab 900 convertible, Vollturbo the first generation with automatic. An excellent cruiser.

My company grew and this year some integrative employees damaged some of my vans, causing insurance premiums to rise exorbitantly. In return, I used my Saab contracts to minimize costs again. Since my Saabrio received in this train then a classic car insurance as a new contract, advised with my insurance person, just me a scooter o.ä. in order to generate a new contract again, if it should be necessary again.

So I looked around. Scooter - no thanks. More like a Goldwing, Trude, or Harley. Everything involves the risk of being riveted by one of our old, traveling compatriots. In addition, the children fit so badly behind, or in the saddlebags.

Why not a Saab again?

The blog has talked so much about the 9000er. There was something? 1991 ??

Ebay was then a reasonably handsome 9000er 2,3 S Anniversary for sale. I looked at the offer and struck at the last minute. With success. Then I organized red numbers and a train ticket and made my way to Allersberg near Nuremberg.

Granted 267 km / h in the ICE were an experience.

When I finally arrived I was picked up by the very nice seller at the train station, paid, checked the car and drove carefully to the next gas station, where it was checked again. The interior is rather neglected and worn out. I think I can do it again. The ZV and the cruise control, as well as the radio and the interior lighting fail - not for long. I drove the first hundred km very carefully - in the next traffic jam. A tough test for the cooling system, which did it pretty unimpressed. My trust grew.

So a little more gas. My god, the thing is going well! But what was that? Check Engine - the display works, the car also 🙂 - and how. Two miles later, Check Engine was off again - and back on and on again with a hearty gas surge. No matter ! The crate runs extremely well.

Old Saabs often turn off their woes when in use. After some time the light remained off. I took more confidence and accelerated to 300 km. It was very mountainous. How nice! Nobody can make room for a Saab. So the whole protagonists pushed in a nice regularity to the left to block my tunneling. It seems to be a bad habit these days, that after some time you change the lane to the right and then go full throttle and just do not let anybody pass.

Was that wonderful !! Whether ML, S class, 535i BMW, Kringelkarren from Ingolstadt, no matter what size, to A 8. All were invariably blown on the slopes, partly as if they were parked and with maximum 3 / 4 gas! The Saab made everything as if he was happy to finally be moved again befitting.

Obnoxious was of course the consumption, but he drove better from minute to minute. When refueling, after a long idle period, I checked all the liquids, a little oil refilled and then went s. What a pleasure!

I remember the pictures from the Saab brochure, with the drawing of the Saab driver as a stick figure with the fat grin on his face. That's what I must have looked like.

Thanks to Marco for his Saab story! Do you also have something to tell about Saab?

The story of an unforgettable holiday, a restoration, the first contact with the brand from Trollhättan or simply why Saab is part of the automotive life. Whatever it is, write us. We are looking forward to it!

Many Thanks! A narrative on the background of a wealth of experience, which - without unwanted stylistic blossoms - also made linguistic fun.

Yeah, the good old turbos.
A few years ago, I was also in tow with a BMW in tow with 200km / h through the Kassel mountains.
Only when I read it over and he then led our pack for many km, I knew the performance of the 2.3FPT (no Aero!) To appreciate: 540i

The 9000ers carry one of the most highly contagious forms of the virus.
Congratulations!

I have been infected for 27 years, I have not yet come across an antidote ... 🙂.

Did you buy the pictured 9000 Turbo S? The text is talking about an 900 2.3 Anniversary.

I once added a 0, it's about an 9000, and I think that was in the author's mind

Jo. Once I want to smart
The Anniversary was only available in the last two model years (1997 and 1998) - Marcos is a 9000 2.3 Turbo S - the predecessor of the 9000 Aero, only offered in the 1992 model year. The leather seats with suede inserts existed in this model and in the Griffin of the early '90s - the Anniversary then also had very similar seats, but with the addition of the propeller plane in the seat backs.
From the rarity value of the black of Marco is already much rarer than an Anniversary, and also from the point of view again different (formerly 2.3 Turbo with automatic transmission were tuned differently).

Congratulations on the beautiful 9000er. I also watched it on Ebay ... Nice that it makes such a good impression and that it came into good hands!
