Reload! Saab and Subaru at the Essen Motorshow

They do it again and that's a good thing. 2018 shared the 1. German Saab Club and the Subaru Drivers Club a stand for the first time. An experiment that was well received by the visitors. So good that you try it together again this year. Of course it fits in well with Saab and Subaru. Not only because of the roots that both companies have in aircraft construction.

There are also other similarities. Saab consistently pursued the downsizing of supercharged engines at a time when nobody else recognized the future viability of this idea. Subaru loves its boxer engine and symmetrical all-wheel drive, and both companies cater to the individual niche.

Essen Motorshow 2019

100 Saq and 2 Subaru models will be presented this year on 2 sqm booth space. It seems that you are at 1. German Saab Club celebrates the low mileage. The black Saab Viggen Coupe from the model year 2000 presents itself in the original condition with only 67.000 kilometers. And the one year older steel-gray 9-5 2.3t station wagon brings even only 59.500 kilometers on the counter.

While Saab presents itself quite balanced with the dignified 9-5 and the sporty Viggen, the Subaru faction inevitably brings up two athletes. A Subaru Impreza Type-R Sti and an Impreza Sti Spec-C complete the range of interesting vehicles.

The first pictures of the structure in a not perfectly illuminated exhibition hall can be seen today. They are a long way from perfection, but that's what makes them so authentic.

The Essen Motorshow starts on November 29.11th. with the opening day for the trade visitors. From November 30.11th until December 08.12th the classic and sporty sheet metal show is open to the public. The combined Saab - Subaru stand will be in Hall 2, Stand D23, as last year. Bloggers Jan and Justus visit the exhibition on 07.12., share their impressions and look forward to meeting many Saab fans.

  • Young timer

The two certainly feel like new cars of their time and probably look that way too ...

There is something! @ Ken-Daniel, I would call them kilometer babies. It seems to me to be suitable for vehicles that are already running but are still far from significant wear ...

  • Must be like that. In everyday life, it is now a Subaru

  • A dream of the station wagon.
If the owner sells it, he should get in touch.
    Drive yourself an 2001.
Only because the 2 stands before the Km stand.
And it runs and runs ...
Unfortunately, far too many 9-5 land in front of facelift on n gravel place.

  • Thanks for the report and the photos, if Saab and Subaru are on a stand, there might still be an 9-2X there.
The low odometer readings are interesting, is there perhaps more?
Would be interesting to hear stories from the opposite kilometer kings / read. What do you call them then?

  • It is nice that this motorsport and tuning fair still exists and hopefully will continue to exist for a long time. If I remember correctly, Subaru drivers are similarly “stored” as we Saab drivers. It's great that both brands are brought together by fans on one stand 🙂

  • (Almost) unbelievable, if it were not reality, such Km-stalls in the year 2019!
Collector vehicles or "barn finds"? Hardly used in everyday life.
The station wagon looks great and I would ponder ...
Have fun with all vehicles at the fair!
