A few kilometers and optional equipment - Saab 9-5 Turbo6 Aero XWD

I like the small, traditional Saab dealers. That still stand by the brand after 10 years. A beautiful Saab 9-5 Aero Turbo6 XWD can now be discovered at a workshop in the Netherlands. A few kilometers and a harmonious optional equipment. Life can be so easy.

Even after 10 years, the Saab 9-5 NG is still the dream car of many fans. The last new release from Saab that made it to the production lines is still fascinating. It also doesn't seem to age, although the successors would have been launched long ago if Saab would still exist.

Great equipment

What is the Saab 9-5 NG about? At the top of the list are amenities like the adaptive chassis. Or the HUD, which is kind of a must have. So because of airplane inheritance and such. The sound system from Harman Kardon is nice, and always a recommendation. All of this is what the Netherlands has to offer.

In addition, there is the aero equipment, which also leaves little to be desired in terms of appearance. Sure, you could spice it up and make the Saab a little hotter. There are the Hirsch accessories, such as the body kit. The Swiss have long since said goodbye to post-production, but resold the tools to Kiel.

The car dealer Lafrentz regularly puts out small numbers of items and supplies accessories in the original design and good old Hirsch Performance quality.

Sporty Saab power

The turbocharged V6 engine with Australian roots works under the hood. The native Holden unit was revised by Saab, the Swedes were once the turbo competence center in the GM group. It produces 300 hp, it could be upgraded to 330 hp and 430 Nm, of course with Deer Help. As a nice side effect, the limitation to 250 km / h would then be omitted, 10 more things would be possible. But with these thoughts one would be politically at least as incorrect as the blogger who tries to put such nonsense in the reader's head.

Apart from that, the charged V6 and intelligent all-wheel drive go very well with each other, fast motorway curves go like on rails, at least as long as it is legal.

A few kilometers and a fair price

The 2010 Saab 9-5 NG Turbo6 XWD has only 56.612 kilometers on the speedometer. That is little, specimens like this are hard to find. It is offered by Automobielbedrijf Stolk bv, a small dealer that has been selling Saab for over 25 years. You can also get a Volvo and Subaru from him, which is a nice mix.

The price for the Saab is fair. € 24.999 are called, which is perfectly fine. Apparently a market price for which many 9-5 NG change hands, but mostly with considerably more kilometers. Of course, and you have to be aware of that, this car also rolled off the assembly line in the Stallbacka 10 years ago.

It's not a new car, and things like rust can be an issue. Even if elegance, individuality and a timeless design are very tempting, even this Swedish icon is aging.

At the end, however, there is a minor restriction to the optional equipment. Nothing that matters, but one thing is missing. This Saab 9-5 NG Turbo6 XWD does not have the famous panoramic roof. But can this little flaw still dampen the enthusiasm?

  • Who wouldn't want that at home?

  • Annoyance

The NG is just so beautiful that I keep thinking about attractive offers. If it were music, it would be a catchy tune of the sophisticated kind.

It's a shame, a shame that it doesn't fit into my life at all. It would be a shame for him and a sacrilege if he got to do with my pack (4 males [2 boys and XNUMX dogs each]) on the back seat. Unfortunately, it's not a station wagon, but “just” probably the most beautiful limousine in the world ...

I hope this annoyance comes into good hands.

    PS
With NG, I always notice an almost disturbing ambivalence towards preferences. TTid, 2.0T, 2.8T, switch, automat, XWD or front? With or without a panoramic roof, exterior color?
All of this moves into the background. Whenever an NG with low mileage and leather seats at a good price takes the stage, it reliably triggers a will-have reflex in me, which, as I said, is a bit annoying ...

  • ´´Nice vehicle´ ... but without sliding panorama roof´ unfortunately NO option as a successor´ for my 9-5 AERO station wagon ... then it has to do its job a little further´´ !! ´´Will have another opportunity give ... there were still some produced in the few months ... which will eventually roll on the used car market´´ !!

  • A brilliant car and timelessly beautiful. So it is the 9-5 NG and will probably stay that way. There are cars, like the 126 Benz for example, that never get old.
Is the 6ender really a good choice? Wasn't there something with thermals? Sloppy draft and so?

  • ... if I didn't have it already ... 🙂
