First look - Saab 9-3 Aero Cabriolet from DNA

The dream of some Saab friends will come true this year. DNA Collectibles will launch a model that has been long awaited. The Saab 9-3 Aero Cabriolet, model year 2005. Finally, because the open Saab is popular. And the Swiss can also make one or two dreams come true when it comes to choosing the body colors.

The open Scandinavian beauty actually comes from Austria and was born at Magna in Graz. Still, the 9-3 II Cabriolet is thoroughly Swedish when it comes to its talents. It is one of those cars that is suitable for all year round.

Its roof is well insulated and robust, cold and bad weather are not an issue. Apart from that, the 9-3 can also be driven openly in winter with pleasure. If you dare, and if you ignore the overly cautious instructions about opening the convertible top at low temperatures.

The seat heating and a powerful, easy-to-regulate heating system take the greatest cold and the Saab is great fun when open in snow and ice. Typical Swedish car.

It is now time to set a monument to this car in the form of a miniature.

Saab 9-3 Aero Cabriolet in three colors

The Swiss manufacturer has a good knack for the niche and a heart for the Saab brand. DNA Collectibles is launching the 9-3 Aero Cabriolet in three body colors. Black, red and the iconic Lime Yellow are available. The decision for the colors was made by the community, which was questioned by the manufacturer.

As usual, the edition will be limited. There will only be 320 models per color worldwide.

That's not a lot - if you look at the popularity of the open Saab in the global community. The convertible is not yet listed on the DNA website and cannot be pre-ordered. There are no pictures of the miniature, which comes in 1:18 scale, yet.

But we have the first pictures from the complex construction phase. They give an approximate impression and shorten the waiting time somewhat. We know that anticipation is also something great.

Yes, we (the blog readers) are also happy that the North Cape Tour 2019 with the beautiful “Leimi” 😉 was still possible because we were able to participate in it through the great reports and photos. You can see it again now - and start dreaming. From your own convertible tours that have been planned for a long time, which will hopefully be possible again soon.

It's great that Leimi will now be available as an exact mini-copy! Not mine, but I'll still buy two, in red and ... ?? Let's see! 🙂

A “limi” * miniature will soon join my great Lime Cabrio, the Nordkapp Cabrio. I'm looking forward.

* (to be pronounced in English, then it sounds like leimi, the nickname of the English in East Africa!)

By the way, I'm glad I made this long trip to the Nordkapp in 2019. At that time Corona was still very, very far away and you could still enjoy traveling carefree. And in a Saab convertible it is known to be a lot more fun!

Yeah, it's the beautiful chili red! 🙂 (Only this red was put to the vote.) So the exact mini sister of the beauty that Lizi has taken under his wing.

I'm already excited about the outcome of the story, I won't buy the big one, but in any case the little red beauty! (And maybe the new owner of the big Spanish sister too…. ?? :-))

And I want it (!): In blue, sapphire blue metallic (fusion blue) with a blue top, just like mine was. I think it would be even better with the interior facelift from MY 2007 and even better than the facelift from MY 2008. But that's also nice, very nice! The noble nocturn blue metallic would also be an option. But then the agony of choice would be even worse - than it is now. The classic black (like my current one?), The lime yellow that few wanted back then, which now looks so ingenious? Or a beautiful red (which one actually? The same as the big Spanish sister Lizi is writing about right now) ?? Question after question - ideally all three!
