What were those times? "Nevertheless, we still expect demand for automobiles to be higher than we can deliver in the short term," wrote Saab Germany Managing Director Karl-Erik Nilsson in the editorial. Saab had invested heavily in 1983 and created additional capacity. However, the demand could not be met. An increase of 22% on the previous year, the Germans were keen on the cars from Göta Älv. And the Swedes followed suit. They introduced the Saab 900 Turbo 16 S.
