Review - Saab season finale in the Lüneburg Heath

In the cold, dark season, looking back is usually beneficial. We warm the automotive soul while the Saab sleep in garages or halls. Organizer Meike sent us a report on the Saab end of the 2021 season. North German Saab fans met at the oldtimer gas station in Hamburg and then headed south. With the best Saab Cabriolet weather, of course. Read what Meike has to tell.

BIn great sunny autumn weather we started at the vintage gas station on Saturday for our Saab season finale in the Lüneburg Heath, with a mixture of 99s, 900s, 9000s and 9-3s. A few other Saab drivers also came to the gas station for a little chat and a little gasolin coffee, including Simo Lampinen, who wished us a nice drive before he traveled back to Finland.

Along the Hamburg dykes we first went in the direction of the Zollenspieker ferry and then we took the car ferry there across the Dove-Elbe to Hoopte in Lower Saxony - a ferry full of Saabs.

Arrived on the other bank of the Elbe, it then went through the villages in the Lüneburg Heath Nature Park to Lopausee near Amelinghausen. There we were joined by 3 Saabs from Lower Saxony and from there we went on the rest of the tour.

From the Lopausee we went through the Lüneburg Heath to the Iserhatsche, which was visited as a group. There, among other things, a Saab matchbox was found in the matchbox collection. From the Iserhatsche we went through the heathland to Höpen, where we went for a walk through the heath.

Finally, we went to the Hacienda restaurant in Jesteburg, where many nice conversations took place.

Key facts: a total of 18 vehicles, starting with 13 Saabs in Hamburg, 3 more at Lopausee, 2 more at Iserhatsche.

The Saabs came from Hamburg, Segeberg, Pinneberg, Hanover, Holzminden (longest journey), Celle, Peine, Greifswald, Wolfenbüttel, Bad Oldesloe and Winsen/Luhe - a nice regional mixture of Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg, Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The Saab community is alive and it was a great gathering of Saab enthusiasts.

The weather was kind to us and we had an absolutely golden October day with a great Saab crew and lots of nice Saab and petrol talks. The need to catch up due to Corona was clearly noticeable and a repetition of the end of the season in 2022 has already been identified.

Greetings from Saab from the north or from the Schleswig-Holstein/Hamburg regulars’ table,

Meike

It's probably almost a kind of contemporary document, matchboxes with car advertising on them. I don't think car manufacturers advertise in this way anymore

      What are matches?

Are these for touch screens? Can you use it to swipe back and forth, up and down in an ecologically correct way, without greasing your display with your finger?

      That would be awesome
