Gdansk - Baltic Sea - and SAAB Rumia

Admittedly, it's been a few months, but I think this post, the basis of which lies in the golden autumn of 2021 in Gdańsk, fits these gray days right now. Autumn 2021 was truly a golden autumn in northern Poland. Mostly sunny, the foliage of the trees was beautifully colored.

The journey from Lüneburg across country through Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and then via Stettin offers a beautiful, extensive country outing. And especially the drive on the expressway from Szczecin towards Gdańsk is very pleasant. It is well developed over long stretches and not very busy.

Gdansk - a great city
Gdansk - a great city

The destination was Gdańsk with its old town, which had been excellently rebuilt after the destruction of World War II, in which historical and modern facades create a harmonious, beautiful picture that fits together. For me something like a wonder of the world that the city was able to be rebuilt after large parts were destroyed.

From a previous trip to friends in Wladyslawowo - which is north of Gdansk at the entrance to the Hela / Hel Peninsula - I had noticed a SAAB dealer along the road there. Adam here on the blog also told me about it. And so I wanted to drive by there once.

Especially since I saw significantly more SAAB on the road during this visit than before. 99, 900, 9-3 and 9-5 NG.

The SAAB base is SAAB Rumia in the place of the same name, just north of Gdynia/Gdynia, directly on the main road that connects the area north (Wladyslawowo, Puck/Putzig) with Tricity, i.e. Gdynia/Gdynia, Sopot/Zoppot and Gdańsk/Danzig .

In front of the house are some SAAB, 9-5, 9-5 SportCombi, 9-5 NG, 9-3. The owner is happy about the visit and is happy to show you his premises with pride. There are two 900 S convertibles in the showroom, one in dark green and one in blue. The green one has already been sold.

The blue one - I like it better - not yet. Refurbished and in really, really nice condition. Framed by a variety of models and other SAAB memorabilia, the two convertibles are doing really well here.

But that's not all. The owner leads to a side property and shows his treasures that are well kept there: three 900 Monte Carlo, one of the models is an American. One is finished, the other not yet. But: they are operational! Isn't that true love for the brand?

You can also get an impression on the website: saab-rumia.pl. It is worth visiting the website and making a detour to the Rumia site. A passionate owner who, in addition to Polish, also speaks German, English and French, love for the vehicle and its maintenance.

And if anyone is still looking for a diffuser for their SAAB 9-5 NG: It's in stock!

You can combine a visit with a city trip to the north of Poland. In Gdansk there is a nice hotel with an attached glass brewery directly at the main station, the "Craft Beer Central Hotel". It is housed in the former Gdańsk Railway Headquarters building and has been restored in an exemplary manner.

Gdansk, Zoppot, Elbing, Marienburg, the Curonian Spit, German history, Polish history, Kashubian history at every turn. In addition, the Baltic Sea, beaches and a beautiful landscape. But keep your eyes open - in some areas it's almost like Sweden!

Thank you for the beautiful impressions from my homeland, dear Christian. It is truly a region full of magic. Can only recommend a trip to the north of Poland to every reader. Preferably in a Saab. With a stopover at Rumia.

    Regards.

Great article or contribution to Rumia or in particular to the Saab drivers from Poland.
I think the people there are even more loyal when it comes to the vehicle and the quality of the accident repairs and the like is already very good there.
It is also interesting that there are even spare parts available via various sales channels that are not even in stock in Sweden.
Greetings from the other side of the Baltic Sea

Dear Christian, thank you very much for this nice travelogue. Yes, the Saab scene in the eastern countries of Europe is very active and the specialized workshops are accordingly well equipped. Both with know-how and with parts.
