Do you actually know the Saab 900 Turbo 16 EV-1?
The Saab 900 Turbo 16 EV-1 is Saab's first concept car. It was presented in 1985 and can be seen as Saab designer Björn Envall's answer to the new Saab 9000 CC Turbo. Its exterior design draws Giorgio Giugiaro (Italdesign) and not their own design center in Trollhättan. That was only allowed to work on the interior.
Björn Envall must have been very dissatisfied. His Saab 900 Turbo 16 EV-1 (EV-1) shows what a modern Saab should look like. Some go into series production many years later. Even then, when Envall has already left Saab and is only available externally for projects. Some ideas shape the brand significantly in the long term. Others are visionary, but Saab never has the courage to realize them in series.
Today EV-1 is almost forgotten. Wrongly, because a lot was groundbreaking and courageous. Let's rediscover EV-1!
