There is a lot going on in Hamburg at the weekend. The Hanseatic city celebrates its port birthday, and Scandinavian car culture is presented at the historic large petrol station in Brandshof. Those are two reasons to take a Saab tour north. The first big exit after the winter is coming up.
The traditional meeting at the vintage gas station is one of the few Saab events that are a must for me. Because that's where the scene gathers, you meet long-time friends and maybe make new ones. Something will be different this year. Last year I drove the automobile marathon Frankfurt - Hamburg and back in the Saab 9-5 with a friend in one day, so this time I'm taking it easy.
The good old 9000, which is my everyday car anyway, is allowed on the track. This time he is not alone, because there is a spontaneous Saab tour from Frankfurt to Hamburg with several vehicles.
A small Saab 9000 pack on the way
It's a small Saab 9000 pack that wants to go long distances. Next to the Anna project is friend Lizi with his incredible midnight blue 9000 Aero (1996) there and Gérard Ratzmann with the 9000 CC Turbo 16 (Link). The two Saab 9000 generations together on the long haul, this is not only a rare sight in terms of the composition.
Because how often do you still see a 9000 on the Autobahn?
The journey today takes us from Frankfurt to the heath in front of Hamburg. The rest of the route in the direction of the Hanseatic city on Saturday is easy to manage. Sure, our Saab tour north provides some storytelling for the blog, and we enjoy the route to just drive a Swedish car again without time pressure.
The three Saabs are fully tanked and loaded, the hotel rooms booked and the route set. Let's go north!
The Hamburg Saab meeting at Brandshof (Link) starts tomorrow at 11:00 a.m., the port birthday (Link), by the way already the 834th, is present everywhere anyway. We look forward to Hamburg and the Saab scene!
