The Saab 9000 as a special protection vehicle ex works - bombproof!
After February 28, 1986, nothing was the same in Sweden. Olof Palme, the country's prime minister, was shot dead in the street. The shock waves went around the world and Sweden would deal with the events for a long time.
The effective protection of politicians and business leaders was now also an issue in Saab's home country. Special vehicles for police and fire brigades have already been built in Trollhättan, as well as apron vehicles for airports. Now the Saab 9000 was also offered as a special protection vehicle.
The conversion was carried out so discreetly that it was impossible to spot it for the uninitiated. Perhaps this was the main strength of the 9000, which was able to surprise with ingenious, bombproof solutions under the sheet metal.
