These crazy Swedes – a Saab journey back in time to 1989
These crazy Swedes - that's what they called the Saab engineers in the USA who attempted the long run adventure at the Talladega Speedway in 1986. This introduction begins a film from 1989 that is a journey through time. The Saab 9000 experiment in Alabama is just a starter for the iconic 15 minutes that take us back to Trollhättan.
The new research and development center there is in full operation. Saab designs vehicles on the computer, CAD was incredibly new back then and the brand was also incredibly innovative in other ways. Robots have moved into the factory on a large scale for the first time since 9000 production started.
They bring production back to profitability and the future looks bright in the video.
