A quick knowledge check to get you started before we talk about an incredibly green Saab 900 GLs. How high do you estimate Saab's market share in Sweden in 1980 in the middle class? For orientation - the 900 was still very fresh on the market, it was considered modern and the turbo engine, with its magic, was the driving force.
Volvo, the big old rival from Gothenburg, had little to counter this. While Trollhättan delivered the technical avant-garde, Volvo fought against an iPhone with a Nokia 3210. Figuratively speaking. Saab was correspondingly successful.
A relic of those years is a Saab 900 GLs. A completely green station wagon coupe, with special accessories that you have to see to believe. It is programmable. And something like that already existed in 1980. Unbelievable.
