The Wankel engine is alive and Mazda is committed to further development

Anyone who perhaps suspected that things could become quite boring in the future and that we would only talk about electric motors and the capacity of batteries will breathe a sigh of relief after this news. Because it really does exist, the often talked about openness to technology and the courage to implement it.

Admittedly, I'm a Wankel engine fan. Many years ago I drove an RX-7, and that's what makes a difference. Since then, I've been following developments at Mazda and I have sympathy for the manufacturer that doesn't go with the flow. Special technical solutions have always appealed to me and when Mazda introduced the MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV a year ago, it was worth a longer article for me (Link).

Now the manufacturer from Hiroshima is pleased with its commitment to the rotary piston engine.
