Stay overnight in Trollhättan

Spend the night in Trollhättan on Saab tracks ...

Update December 2013

Trollhättan is located inland, but you can see the proximity to the sea and the large lakes. There are gulls everywhere in the city, and wild geese gather in the meadows in front of the Saab factory. This gives the city a special, unique flair. You can spend the night where the Saab bosses and visitors have spent the night, the most beautiful is right on the canal.

As a place to stay, especially the traditional Scandic Swania Hotel is recommended. In addition to the Kung Oscar, Victor Muller's favorite hotel, it is one of the best houses and captivates by its central location. Again and again, the traditional house is improved and renovated, the rooms are stylishly furnished.

However, that should not be concealed, makes itself felt in the venerable Swania the economic crisis of the city. The red pencil has also been used here in recent months, and our recent visits were a bit disappointing. The recommendation is still valid, but subject to reservation and lack of a suitable alternative.

The Göta Älv and the drawbridge are in front of the door, so that at night you can hear the ships passing through (there are not many). The pedestrian zone of Trollhättan and the “Walk of Fame” of the film city are around the corner. You can walk to the Saab Museum, as well as the Troll Falls. The breakfast buffet in the Swania is good and plentiful, the crowd international. A hotel with a rich Saab past.

You can park your Saab in the parking garage opposite or on one of the many public parking facilities in the vicinity. Then you should, however, until 9: 00 clock have cleared the parking lot.

If you do not feel like downtown, there are other options.

An alternative, especially for families with children, is the Hotel Hehrne in Vänersborg. About the Stallbacka bridge and the E44 in about 15 minutes from Trollhättan to reach, the hotel is beautifully located in a large park. The area, located directly on the Göta Älv, was used in times long past as a mental hospital, the hotel as a nursing home. These times are really long gone.

The rooms are simple, small but with a lot of charm. The restaurant serves great Swedish cuisine, and in-house hamburger is prepared for children. In summer you can sit on the terrace overlooking the Göta Älv or walk along the canal.

For the children, the huge playground was completely redesigned in spring 2012. Saab employees from Germany were often guests at the Hotel Hehrne, and in the good old days the restaurant had many business lunches. Of course you can see the Saab factory from the hotel.

The staff at the Hotel Hehrne is more than friendly and fulfills every wish.
